Transferrin saturation
What it measures
This is the percentage of transferrin, the protein that carries iron in your blood, that is currently carrying iron.
Often reported in %. Reference ranges differ between laboratories, ages and sexes, so always compare with the range printed on your own report.
Why it matters
It's calculated from iron and TIBC and is often more informative when read together with ferritin than any single iron marker alone.
